Friday Commute Home to the Seocheon House

186km from work to Seocheon! I'd always wanted to try the routine of leaving work on Friday and having dinner at my Seocheon home—and I finally did it. The first time is always the hardest; it'll get easier after a couple more tries.
The sunset greeted me the moment I arrived in Seocheon. I learned for the first time that when the sunset hits the tidal flats, they turn pink. It was incredibly beautiful.

For dinner, I picked a few scallions my parents had planted in the yard and added them to ramen.
Hodol sleeping soundly
I watched Hodol sleeping, did a little work, then fell asleep.
As always, Hodol woke me up at six, wanting to go for a walk. After our morning walk, I picked a few zucchini rolling around in the vegetable patch in front of the house. I made pancakes with the green onions picked yesterday and the zucchini.
There was kimchi in the fridge, so I added that too and made kimchi pancakes. While we were eating breakfast, Mom and Dad arrived.
Today's mission: digging up sweet potatoes! Dad's friend had already pulled all the sweet potato vines, so they were just waiting to be dug up.
Dad grabbed a shovel, I grabbed a hoe, Hodori cheered us on from the side, and we dove into endless sweet potato digging.
We filled two big boxes… Digging sweet potatoes is fun but tiring, rewarding but exhausting.
Meanwhile, Mom cut some taro stems.

After working hard, I lay down on the sofa for a quick nap. When I woke up, Mom had cooked crab stew with crabs. I devoured the most delicious crab stew in the world.
After lunch, I stepped outside and looked up at the sky. The weather was so perfect that Mom, Hodori, and I went for a walk.
The sea, now full of water, looked different from yesterday's sea that showed the pink tidal flats. We walked along the shore for a long time, then sat on the rocks and gazed at the sea. It felt refreshing and peaceful.
Turning away from the sea revealed vast fields stretching out. Golden fields full of ripe rice, not yet harvested.
I felt happy. Hodori looked happy too!
I wrote all this, but Dad called me to dig taro, so I went and dug taro. And I also got some weird wooden bench…
Country life leaves no time for boredom
